Up all night

Remember when staying up all night was fun and full of excitement? Who knew what a night would bring...2 am, no problem. I think the motherhood has gotten the best of me. Last night we had our ward Christmas party. It was great. Carson ran about 30 laps around the gym. He went to bed no problem. Then, what should happen? 11:30 should happen. I had long been asleep when he was coughing up a storm. We gave him medicine. 2 seconds later, he informed me it was not working. Cough, cough, cough all night long. Today I am exhausted. Maybe the effects of the "up all nights" now linger because of a lack of excitement. Who knows. I just know I am not cut out for this anymore.

My calling in life...

I think that I missed my calling in life, except for the fact that I can't sing and can't dance. For my birthday, my dad and Marsha bought Robbie and I tickets to Hairspray (the musical). We met them in Pocatello for dinner. Some good friends kept our kids. We had such a good time. Every time I see a show like that, I dream about the big stage...maybe in my next life. Like I said, if only I could sing OR dance. I can't do either. I love to watch talented people do their thing. It is amazing to me. I dreamt about it all night, only to wake up to a little boy with Mater underware on backwards telling Robbie that our friend did not brush his teeth so he has a cavity...OOPS! I forgot to pack his toothbrush. I guess for now, little buns hanging out backwards underware will have to do...at least he put them on himself...maybe Broadway will need me someday!

Anything better that this?

Isn't it every kids dream to have their mom let them lick the cake batter out of the bowl. How about at 8:00 am while still in jammies. Life does not get much better than this.Love the golden formica counter tops in our house...let's just say that we are beyond ready to move! Good thing that there are such cute faces to look at!

Watching my kids do this brought back SOOO many memories of me and my own mom in the kitchen cooking. She is the reason I am the cook that I am. When Robbie meets her, he probably owes her a BIG thanks!

A weekend away...

What more can a mommy of 2 (almost 3) boys ask for...a husband willing to stay with the boys for 2 days, a great group of girlfriends, shopping in Salt Lake, PF Changs, and Twilight! This last weekend was a great retreat from cooking, cleaning, and crazy kids. We had such a fun time laughing, talking, and finding some great gifts. I will say that I did love Twilight...but I was a little disappionted in the casting of the Cullen family. It was fun to go to the movies and lose myself. I love love love that. The best part of the weekend was definately coming home to a warm welcome...kids in bed, a happy husband, and a clean kitchen. What more can a girl ask for?

The Peace Offering

This morning while I was laying in bed, Nathan and Carson woke up and came and got in bed with me. I told Carson that I had a doctors appointment today and that he and Nate would be going to Grandma's for a while. He was so excited. He thought that meant that our baby was coming. I explained that he would not be here until after Christmas. He rubbed my tummy and started whispering to the baby. The only thing I could hear was, "I love you, little baby. I really love you." So cute. Nathan was watching all of this transpire, and he started patting my tummy saying, " Baby. Baby. Baby." Then he stopped and I could tell that he was thinking. He picked up his prize posession...his blankey and placed it gently on my tummy. No one gets to use the blankey, so I am assuming that this is a peace offering to his new baby brother. Hopefully it means that Nate will be kinder to him than Carson is to Nate.

Little Buckaroos

This year for Halloween, Carson wanted to be a pirate. I asked him why and he said, "So I can say, 'Arrr...walk the plank'. I decided that was not a good enough reason, because I had these vests that were brought back from Mexico by my Grandma and Grandpa Jackson for my brothers when they were little. They are like 30 year old vintage Mexican cowboy cute vests. I sewed the fringe on the pants. Carson had issues with his shirt. He told me that it was his church shirt and that it was NOT a cowboy shirt. Well, we came to an agreement that it was his cowboy/church shirt. Living in Rupert, we had a plethera of boots to borrow from friends. Thanks Steph! Apparently cowboy is not a costume here. Anyway, I also caved and bought the boys guns. The pistol was for Nate and the big one was for Carson. Well, Nate latched onto that big one and loved it. They had fun saying "yeehaw cowboy". We had a party on the 30th at my house with all their little friends. It was fun, but what should show up...a pirate! So, he quickly took a liking to the guns and Carson to his sword. Maybe we will have a pirate next year...

The beginning...sort of

After a lot of peer pressure from my husband, I think I am ready to give this a try. An update on our family is that we are patiently waiting for 2 major events to happen...our house to be finished and our new baby to come. He is due on Feb 21. Hopefully they will happen in that order. Life is moving along to quickly. Our little Carson is getting so big. He asked me on the way to church if he could marry me. Robbie was at meetings already, so I told him to ask his dad. Robbie was passing the sacrament and Carson ran right up to him and asked him. I will say that 3 has been a challenging age, but it is also nice to know what his little mind is thinking. Nathan is into hugs and kisses and blowing spit to make his brother mad. He is such a good little boy with a very big temper. I will try to post more, but I am afraid that blogging will become an obsession...I hope not...time will tell.

Here we are in the spring on a hike...I guess I better download some more pics off of my camera.
