Thank you, Mr. Heimlich

Today I was going to post about our wonderful trip to what I call civilization (others may call it Utah). There are so many stores there...and restaurants...and PEOPLE! Robbie and I went down and took Logan. We went to the BYU game...too bad that they played like a bunch of grannies...it was so bad that we had to drowned our sorrow in icecream from Sub Zero...YUM. Anyway, Grandpa and Grandma Jackson did such a good job babysitting that my kids didn't want to come home. I was thrill to come back and have them all be alive, but now that they are in the guardianship of their mother, we had a close call.

Today we had so many places to run. I hate halloween and had to decide what my kids would be. Carson finally persuaded me that he HAD to be a Pirate. SO, we went to DI to see what we could find...I will post pics when they are done. The boys were thrilled that someone had just left their dinosaurs, so for 2 dollars we added 4 to our collection. Then came my worst nightmare...3 kids and me in Walmart and it gets worse...the dollar store...3 places we never go. After 2 hours of shopping, my kids were hungry, so I went into Little Ceasers and got them breadsticks (dripping, literally, in grease).

Nate was still hungry so I gave him a banana to eat on our way home, FINALLY. I had just entered the busiest street in Burley and Nate is making all kids of funny wheezing noises. I look in my mirror and his face was blue and he was difinately choking...now no sounds at all. I slammed on my brakes and got out of the car...careful to not get us both hit by a car...and did the heimlich maneuver...Banana went shooting out of his mouth. Then he started to cry. And a cute nice lady by this time had pulled over and wanted to help. I just hugged and hugged him. Then my shock reaction set in...SWEAT and shaking. By the time I got home, I was drenched. Thank you mister Heimlich for inventing a way to save my cute little blue eyed boy...

Have you ever...?

Have you ever slept in the nude...I mean completely naked? I haven't, but this morning when I got up at 6 with Logan I had a little suprise. I checked on Carson and Nate and , WOW, my little boy Carson was completely NAKED. There is nothing like a full moon staring at you at 6 am...he has cute little buns. I had to smile and laugh. When he woke up, I asked him why he took off all his clothes. His reponse..."I got hot." Well, ok. How do you dispute that? SO, my cutie pie little boy likes sleeping in the nude. I have been giggling to myself all day.

Remembering...

I had such a fun day on Friday. My cute 88 year old grandma called me and needed a ride to the hospital for some lab work. Then we went and grabbed lunch. We went back to her house and ate. She had stirred up some cinnamon rolls before I came to pick her up. We rolled those out , put them into the over, and then the fun really began.

My sister in law put the bug in my head that someone needed to write my mom's life story. SO, grandma and I got to work. She was remembering my mom as a baby, small girl, teen ager, and adult. We had a tape recorder and reminised for a few hours. It was a wonderful trip down memory lane. It was good for me to remember the funny girl my mom was...after all, she didn't come to earth as a mother. She had a whole lifetime before that. She was a little firey...she had to be with 5 brothers, she was limitless...if she thought about doing something, she did it...never a thought about i can't or what if (excepept when it came to exercise), she was so thoughtful of her mother...I should have taken a lesson there... the list of things we remembered together went on and on...

We soon will have another Friday date...hopefully, minus the hospital trip. It was so soothing to sit at my grandma's kitchen table (a place where nothing has changed for years...so much like...home) and eat delicious cinnamon rolls. It was a day I could relive over and over again.

A mother's heart...

I learned today that there is nothing to prick a mother's heart like the first day of school. I know that it is just preschool, but I feel like this is the start of the end of my time with my little boy. It just gets more and more busy from here. It went just like we rehearsed...walk to the door...hang up back pack...give mom a hug and kiss...then mom is out. THEN the unrehearsed part...the tears I was choking back on the way to the car. Nate kept saying, "Where's Cars...I want to be 4 so that I can go to school." This has been a big week for our family. Carson and school, Nate is now potty trained (he was WAY easier than his brother was), and Logan is scooting everywhere. I feel like life is in fast forward. BOOO HOOO! As I write this, I can think of one day that I dreaded worse than this, and that is the MTC. Good thing we still have 15 years to prepare for that one!

Funny...

Last Friday was Robbie's birthday. We went on a little date together. It was fun. Carson and Nate were staying with his parents while we went out. We were taking Logan with us. Carson asked me if Logan was coming to Grandma's too.

ME: No

CARSON: Why?

ME: Because Logan needs to be with mommy so that he can have his milk for dinner.

CARSON: Grandma has the same parts as you...she can give him milk.

Well, I was cracking up so much that I couldn't finish the conversation. Plus...what do you say to that?

Then, last sunday at church during the closing prayer, the boys were being so naughty. Carson was holding the tips of his index fingers together and saying to Nate, " Cut the pickle"...then nate would chop between his fingers...then, carson would say, "tickle tickle." They were being SO loud. I was trying to sternly whisper to them to fold their arms. Then I grabbed Nate and folded his for him. While I was holding him he was yelling, "Quit tieing me up mom. Quit tieing me up!" Over and over was this pickle and tieing up cycle. It was a marathon closing prayer. Let's just say that warranted sitting on a chair for 10 minutes when we got home from church...they were dreading it and tearful while they were off to primary and nursery. THEN, I forgot. Hopefully this week won't be a repeat.

I did it!

I can't believe it...I accomplished a goal I set out to do. Our stake pres about 3 mo ago issued a fitness challenge. There was a 5k walk/run or a 10 k run. I had a 3 mo old baby.I decided that I could start training for the 5 k run. This was a huge deal for me. I have not regularly exercised since well, if I am honest, high school. Of course there have been the spurts after having a baby, but nothing consistant. WELL, I decided to run the 5k. I got online and found a training program called "from couch to 5 k in 8 weeks". It was so awesome. Not too hard, but pushed me just the right amount. 3 weeks before my 5k race, my friend talked me into doing the 10k. I was not too sure I could do it. 2 Weeks before I ran 4 miles then 4.8. The monday before I ran 6. Then it was race day. It was freezing...50 degrees on Aug 8. Crazy. Anyway, I DID IT! I couldn't believe it. I am not very fast. It took me an hour and 33 seconds. It felt so good to accomplish a goal. 6 miles is a LONG way for me! It was neat at the finish line to see my cute husband cheering me on. Robbie has been so supportive. He is so helpful to watch the kids so that I could do this. I don't have any pics...and open water bottle in my diaper bag with my camera at the bottom...need I say more? It was so fun though! During breakfast, my cute little Nate said, "You are a good racer mom." It was just what I needed to hear! Who knows what the future has is store...I think I have been bit by the running bug.

Thanks mom...

Yesterday when we had our little accident, Carson was so brave. He held very still. I didn't cry, but Robbie said that I was crying out my forehead. My shock reaction was sweating. While Carson was getting stitched up, I could hear my mom's voice in my head talking about when Brandon had Leukemia and had to get spinal taps and all kinds of yucky things. She said that the doctors were amazed at how brave he was and that it was a direct result of my mom keeping herself together. I don't know if I was very brave, but I didn't fall apart. It was nice to hear a familiar voice give me advice on how to handle myself. I guess even though she is not here, she is still mothering me. Thanks mom!

There is nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby. I just HAD to put this on here.

If anyone has advice on how to treat scars, let me know...I would like it to be minimal, but scars are manly and give character, right? that is what I keep telling myself.
